This might be a controversial post haha, but just going to state this now.. I am not a feminist nor do I care for equality. (Equality as in I don’t believe that girls should ride against boys. Boys ride against boys and girls ride against girls.)
BMX girls are definitely not on the same level as men. I try to get contests and companies to support girls, because a lot of girls do deserve it, regardless if they are not on the same level as a guy. It’s definitely growing at a rapid rate and the younger generation of female riders need other females to relate to/look up to.

I created this website and zine to get coverage of girls BMX out into the world more. I didn’t get to ride with other girls when I started riding. When I got the chance to meet and ride with Nina Buitrago and Stacey Mulligan, that was it, I was hooked forever hah. I’ve traveled my ass off, paying my own way, just to ride with other girls, support ladies contests, and hope to meet other girl riders. A few years ago, I could only name about 15 girls who rode.. now there’s hundreds, probably even thousands who ride. It’s so awesome to see this sport progress, but being a girl and riding BMX isn’t as accepted as being a girl and snowboarding or rollerblading or mountain biking or any other sport really..

The past couple months I have been keeping an eye on what is being searched on this website.. believe it or not “sexism in sports” and “sexism in BMX” have been searched A LOT lately.
I’ve been thinking more and more about it and I really want to do an article on this in the next zine. I would love to get feed back from as many girls as I can and even guys.
