Travels : Bcam at Woodward West

BEE CAM AT WOODWARD WEST

About 15 days ago Nina Buitrago asked me if I was still interested in going to Woodward West and of course my answer was “HELL YES.” She found out that DK week was coming up at camp and I decided to go the same week, so I bought I plane ticket and told work I would be leaving in seven days. It’s the on the whim trips like this that add to my love for BMX.  I had wanted to go to Woodward West for some time to visit Tazz and meet some of my fellow Juke Jream Team.  Timing could not have been better!

Once there I was non-stop on my bike. I rode everything I could. I learned so much in just a few days: pedal slides, surfers, jumping spines, baby wall rides, riding peacocks, and the mega ramp! Unfortunately I hurt my thumb mid-way through the week and slowed down my momentum, but I still kept pedaling.  The night before I left I was so tired and physically drained but did not want to waste any time. One of the girls working said to me “I haven’t seen you off your bike all week.” That made me feel so accomplished.

Not only did I learn new things, but I made some of the best new friends. I was so happy to finally meet other Jukers Andy Sweet, Jack Deconinck-Smith, and Mike Payne.  They share the same love for little kid bikes and each have their own unique styles. There was no hesitation with them opening their arms to me as part of the Juke family.

This was one of the best weeks and BMX trips I have ever experienced. I cannot wait to come back next year and do it all over again. Thank you Tazz, Jack, Andy, Kris Sherry, Nina and everyone at Woodward for being so rad! It was truly inspiring seeing all the young bloods being just as excited as I was to be at Woodward. Whenever someone asked me how Woodward was all I could say was “Field of Dreams Baby.” ;-)
